Economics of Medicaid Expansion

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service hosted a panel discussion on the economic impacts of Medicaid expansion on April 9 at 6 p.m. in UF’s Pugh Hall Ocora.

Robin Rudowitz, Associate Director, Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, is an expert on state and federal Medicaid financing issues discussed the financial implications of Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.

Prior to joining KCMU in 2004, Rudowitz was a senior manager at The Lewin Group, a health policy and management consulting firm.  Rudowitz has worked on budget and health policy issues in different government agencies including the Office of Legislation at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Office of the Chief Financial Officer for the District of Columbia, the Congressional Budget Office and the Ways and Means Committee for the New York State Assembly.

Following her remarks, a distinguished panel reflected on the issues presented. Panelists included: Christopher R. Cogle, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine; David Denslow, Economic Analyst, Professor emeritus, University of Florida; Jason Altmire, Sr. Vice President, Florida Blue. The conversation was moderated by Paul Duncan, Ph.D., Malcom and Christine Randall Professor, Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy, College of Public Health and Health Professions
