My gratitude to the Governor

Submitted by Ana Cavalcante

I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Graham family in this time. Governor Graham was the epitome of a public servant, his "workdays" became legendary not only for their political success but for symbolizing the role of an elected official: a representative who understands the reality of their constituents. Governor Graham's 400+ "workdays" show his commitment to his constituents and sets a worthy example for anyone seeking to be an effective changemaker. I don't know if as a student I realized just how lucky we were to have access to such a giant, but I will forever cherish all the interactions I had with the Governor during my time at UF. Most importantly, I am forever thankful to the Governor for his initiative to create the Graham Center to provide public service opportunities for the next generation of leaders. I attribute many of my favorite UF memories, most impactful experiences, and long-lasting connections to the Graham Center. I honor and commemorate his legacy.
