Matthew Jacobs Named New Director of Bob Graham Center for Public Service

Matthew Jacobs, an associate professor of U.S. and international history at the University of Florida, has been named the new director of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.

Jacobs has been recognized for his deep commitment to the education and experiences of undergraduate students, including with the history department’s Mahon Award for Undergraduate Teaching (2005), the CLAS Undergraduate Teacher of the Year (2010), the CLAS Undergraduate Faculty Advisor/Mentor of the Year (2014), and, most recently, the CLAS Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education (2018).

He received his Ph.D. in 2002 in U.S. history with a specialty in foreign relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his M.A. in 1996 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his B.A. in 1993 from Cornell University.

Jacobs succeeds David Colburn, professor and provost emeritus, who is retiring as center director after five years.
