U.S. Interests in Cuba

On Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Pugh Hall Ocora, Former U.S diplomat John Caulfield examined U.S/Cuban relations, providing essential background to the normalization policy announcement, progress since the announcement, and challenges that lie ahead.

In a career spanning nearly 40 years, Mr. Caulfield held a variety of positions dealing with Latin America and Consular Affairs. He has received many awards during his career including a Presidential Meritorious Service Award, the Department of State’s Distinguished Service Award and the Secretary of State’s Award for Innovation in the Use of Technology. He received his B.A. from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pa. in International Relations and Latin American Studies, and is a graduate of the Department of State’s Senior Seminar in National Security and International Affairs.
