Dan Berger and Stayed On Freedom
February 23, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Together with the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program, the Graham Center presented an in-person book reading of Stayed on Freedom: The Long History of Black Power Through One Family’s Journey by author Dan Berger. A free book signing will follow.
The book is the story of the Black Power movement through the experiences of UF Professor Emerita Zoharah Simmons and her husband, Michael. Dr. Simmons will speak briefly after Berger’s talk. The narrative depicts the odyssey of Simmons from her time as an organizer with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party to her international work for peace and liberation.
