2017 Provost’s Symposium

The University of Florida Office of the Provost and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service hosted the 2017 Provost Symposium on January 26-27 at Emerson Alumni Hall. The program focused on implicit bias and how we address cultural climate issues on the UF campus.
Kate Ratliff, assistant professor in UF’s Department of Psychology and Executive Director of the Harvard University’s Project Implicit, opened the two-day conference with a presentation on hidden biases and presented data collected from an associations assessment administered to UF faculty and staff in advance of the symposium.
New York Times Op-Ed columnist Charles Blow offered a keynote address on day two of the conference. Blow’s NYT columns focus on politics, public opinion and social justice. His remarks were followed by a UF faculty panel featuring: Katheryn Russell-Brown, Paul Ortiz, Wolfgang Sigmund and Associate Provost Angel Kwolek-Folland.
