Liana Guerra
Liana Guerra is Chief of Staff, Office of Rep. Darren Soto, in the U.S. House of Representatives. She earned a B.A. in economics and political science from the University of Florida in 2015, and completed her M.B.A. through UF in 2020. As an undergraduate, she was active in Bob Graham Center programs, and was in the inaugural class of Reubin Askew Scholars, a program that provides students with intensive leadership training and a research stipend to advance public policy issues.
Ms. Guerra is passionate about issues affecting Hispanic students. As a Gator undergrad, she was a major part of the group that advocated successfully for the passage of the state law extending in-state tuition rates to undocumented Florida high school graduates. In 2021, she was named president of the University of Florida Association of Hispanic Alumni, where she helps raise funds for scholarships for future Gators.
In 2019, she and fellow Graham Center alum Elizabeth Hyatt founded the Girl Grit podcast, which explores the personal stories of young professional women who are innovating and redefining success in business, politics and local communities.
From 2015-16, Ms. Guerra served as special projects manager and special assistant to the chair of the Democratic National Committee. She was Deputy Florida Surrogate Director of the Hillary Clinton for America campaign before joining Rep. Darren Soto's office in January 2017.
