The Icepick Surgeon: Murder, Fraud, Sabotage, Piracy, and Other Dastardly Deeds Perpetrated in the Name of ScienceScience is a force for good in the world. But sometimes in history, obsession has pushed a noble pursuit into something sinister.
The University of Florida’s Science Journalist in Residence program presents an evening with bestselling science journalist Sam Kean, Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Pugh Hall Ocora. With his trademark wit and precision, Kean shares tales from his new book The Icepick Surgeon, revealing rogue science and its consequences, like the links from dark histories such as Tuskegee and Nazi Germany to current vaccine hesitancy. Kean’s program will be followed by a book sale and signing.
This is a partnership between the College of Journalism and Communications and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.
