Myth No. 1
I don’t have a license, so I can’t vote.
False! Any state-issued ID with photo and signature will work. UF students can use their Gator 1 Card to vote . . . check the back side to make sure it’s signed.
Myth No. 2
I can’t register to vote at UF because my address at UF doesn’t match the address on my ID.
False! UF students often think they can’t register to vote at school because their campus address won’t match the address on their driver’s license, or because it will affect their financial aid. That’s not the case – register at the address of your preference, without worry!
Myth No. 3
If you aren’t registered in the Democrat or Republican party, you cannot vote in the Florida primaries.
False! If you have chosen no party affiliation or are registered with a third party, you can still vote for the nonpartisan candidates on the ballots. Although Florida is a closed primary state, voters who affiliate with no party or a third party can still vote for nonpartisan candidates like city commissioners, judges and the school board. Regardless of your political party, get out and vote this August.
Come by the Bob Graham Center, 220 Pugh Hall, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, and get personal assistance in completing your voter registration.
