UF: The Past is Prologue

January 22, 2013

Marking and celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Morrill Act, which allowed for the creation of land-grant universities, was a panel discussion about the many challenges faced by UF in the past as it moves forward to the future. The program was held on Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Pugh Hall Room 170 at 6 p.m.

Themes from the discussion included, the status of women and minorities, the civil rights era and its effect on the shaping of the university, town-gown relations and more were explored throughout the evening.The panel discussion was moderated by the Graham Center’s Director, David Colburn.

The event was sponsored by the Department of History and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, co-sponsored by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, the Center for the Humanities and Public Sphere, and the Center for Women’s Studies and Gender Research.
