Florida Constitution at 50 years: Looking ahead to the 2017 Revision Commission

The University of Florida commemorated 50 years of the Florida Constitution with two panel discussions focused on constitutional revision. “Florida Constitution at 50 Years: Looking Ahead to the 2017 Revision Commission” was held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 in the Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom, Room 180, Holland Hall, at UF’s Levin College of Law.  The forum was divided into two sessions:

4-5:30 p.m. – “Why Florida Is Unique – the Opportunities and Challenges Facing the Constitution Revision Commissions of 1977 and 1997”, chaired by Jon Mills, former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and member of the 1997 Revision Commission.

5:30-7 p.m. – “Critical Issues Confronting the 2017 Constitution Revision Commission,” chaired by Bob Graham, former U.S. Senator and former Florida Governor.

The event is sponsored by the Bob Graham Center, the Center for Government Responsibility, the League of Women Voters of Alachua County, and Sante Fe College’s Office of Civic Engagement and Service.
