2018 Provost’s Symposium

February 1, 2018 @ 8:00 am - February 2, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

The fourth annual Provost’s Symposium took place on February 1st and February 2nd, 2018, in Pugh Hall and Emerson Alumni Hall.  This year’s symposium topic was “The Role of the University and UF Faculty in Addressing the Rise of Extremism on Campus and in the Nation”, a timely discussion that came just one semester after white nationalist Richard Spencer’s visit to the University of Florida. UF faculty, staff and administration discussed the role of the university in balancing free speech and safety when addressing the rise of extremism on campus with President Kent Fuchs and Provost Joe Glover.
